Online retail set to survive strike
12 Nov 2009
Recent research has shown that online shopping is still set to form part of the consumer’s plans this Christmas. In the wake of the Royal Mail’s decision to call off further industrial action, confidence in online retail is clearly returning.
According to the latest e-Customer Service Index from eDigitalResearch and IMRG, 93% of UK consumers intend to do some of their Christmas shopping online this year. The lure of competitive prices is once again set to draw customers away from the high street, even if it is simply to compare prices. With people increasingly turning to their mobile phones for quick price checks, retailers need to show awareness of their customers preferred communication platform. MIG have the marketing technologies to help target those all-important customers and win the price-war that is set to rage online this Christmas.
Despite the concerns surrounding the Royal Mail strike, online spending is set to total £8.9 billion this festive period (according to the Centre for Retail Research), equivalent to 20p in every £1 spent. Such a high figure would also represent a 24% increase on previous years, so now is the time to act if you want to boost your sales this Christmas.
