Online Retailers Fail to Check or Influence Their Online Reputation

An alarming 50% of British businesses do not check the Internet for material about them, according to recent research. These businesses accepted they were unaware of what was being communicated by others on the Internet about their offerings.

Furthermore, and most importantly, 48% of all respondents don't have any facilities in place to help influence or control their online reputation nor to address any inaccuracies and harmful material that could negatively impact their reputation.

Carlos Dunlap, Vice President of Business Intelligence at Maritz Loyalty Marketing, says, perhaps alarmingly, that "loyalty reward programmes don't create loyal customers" - at least, not by themselves.
